BACK  to base?

All the bodies of the drums are made from water-mains or gas-mains pipe (it’s in a variety of  diameters and doesn’t split,so can be worked like wood,almost) and the skins are cowskin soaked then tacked on & allowed to dry (I used to use dog-chews from petshops for this- they’re usually really robust.)
Some of the groups of tube drums are tuned to different notes ( a bit like giant panpipes )
I put water-soluble paints on the skins when they’re still drying and use household paint for the bodies (though this can chip off if you don’t roughen up the surface first)
There’s also some wooden slit-drums.
